Texas 4-H Entomology Learning Tool (version 0.9 beta) |
The idea of this website is to show each specimen as it appears on a pin or in alcohol rather than "in nature". The exam is based on pinned or alcohol-preserved specimens. Each slide presents the information that might be required on the senior exam, and we hope having the insect image and the text information on the same page is useful. When this project is finished we expect to have all 187 specimens required for the senior exam. This tool is being developed in cooperation with Monti Vandiver, Brant Baugh, Greg Cronholm, Scott Russell, Noel Troxclair and Ed Riley. IF YOU HAVE COMMENTS, PLEASE FORWARD THEM TO PAT PORTER (p-porter[AT]tamu.edu). This is a lot of work, and we won't finish the project if we don't get an indication that it is of value. We would also appreciate suggestions on how to make this product better. The navigation links are not built yet. You will have to use the "back" button for now |
| Use the numbers just under the title of the page to navigate to a new slide. If you click on a "thumbnail" image it will pull up a much larger image. | |
