2001 Ag Outlook Conference Set On Feb. 7

 AMARILLO -- Projections for the economy, commodities markets, and the weather will be featured at the Ag
Outlook and Marketing Strategies Conference slated here Feb. 7, according to Steve Amosson, agricultural
management economist with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service.

The event at the Texas A&M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, 6500 Amarillo Blvd.
West, is sponsored in conjunction with the Master Marketer seminar series, and is open to the public.
 
Advance registration costs $50 per person, or $60 at the door. Early registration is recommended. Lunch is
included. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The first conference session begins at 8:30 a.m.

Topics and speakers include: Where is the Farm Program Heading: Impact on Producers, by Ed Smith,
Extension economist in marketing-policy; El Nino, La Nina and the 2001 Forecast, by meteorologists Steve
Drillette and Edward Andrade, Jr., National Weather Service; 2001 Grain Outlook and Marketing Strategies, by
Mark Waller, Extension economist-grain marketing; 2001 Cattle Outlook and Marketing Strategies, by Duane
Lenz, Cattle-Fax market analyst; and Technical Indications for Ag Markets in 2001, Dale Stemple, Amarillo
Brokerage Company account executive.
