Stanley Young Receives Vice Chancellor’s Award

COLLEGE STATION - Stanley M. Young of Lubbock was honored with the Vice Chancellor's Award in
Excellence for Agricultural and Natural Resource Programs on Jan. 8 by the Texas A&M University
Agriculture Program.

Young has served as Lubbock County Extension agent since 1987.

"He has been a leader in his district in Extension educational programming. His aggressive, yet impressive
programs have kept his clientele on the leading edge of technology," said John Farris, Dawson County
Extension agent.

Steve and Patti Jones of Lubbock, who have known Young for more than 19 years, described him as a
"energetic, passionate, and caring individual whose qualities and commitment are underlined by a strong
value system that enhances his integrity and work ethic."

The Jones' have worked with Young on many endeavors, including test crop demonstrations and numerous
4-H projects.

Young earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Tech University.

The Vice Chancellor's award is the highest honor given to faculty and employees of the Agriculture
Program. It was presented by Dr. Ed Hiler, vice chancellor for agriculture at Texas A&M.

The Texas A&M Agriculture Program is a statewide organization of agricultural agencies, divisions and
colleges of agriculture, life sciences, natural resources, human sciences and veterinary medicine with the
Texas A&M University System.
