TITLE:
Effect of nematicide treatments on cotton yield at AG-CARES, Lamesa, TX, 2000.
AUTHORS:
Terry Wheeler, Danny Carmichael, Lionel Felts, Assistant Professor, Research Associate, Aventis CropScience
Planting date: 8 May
Variety: Paymaster 2326RR
Replications: 3
Plot size: four-rows wide, length ranged from 925 to 1694′
Plant mapping: 20 plants/plot on 11 July
Nematode sampling: 17 July
Location: 3rd and 4th spans in the conservation tillage (wheat-stubble) area.
Yield data was collected with a MicroTrak yield monitor on a four row stripper.
Treatments: 1 = Orthene 90S applied on 30 May, 3.2 oz/acre
2 = 3.5 lbs/a of Temik 15G applied at planting.
3 = 5 lbs/a of Temik 15G applied at planting.
4 = 5 lbs/a of Temik 15G applied at planting and two applications of Vydate (8.5 oz/acre/application) applied at pinhead size square (16 June) and one week later.
5 = 5 lbs/a of Temik 15G applied at planting + 5 lbs/a side dress at pinhead size square.
6 = 5 lbs/a of Temik 15G applied at planting + 7.5 lbs/a side dress applied at pinhead size square.
7 = 5 lbs/a of Temik 15G applied at planting + 7.5 lbs/a side dress applied at pinhead size square using a rolling cultivator applicator.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
There was no advantage to using Temik 15G in 2000 with respect to any plant mapping characteristics, nematode density or yield.
